Thermal Steel Doors

Thermally insulated steel doors are designed to reduce heat transfer through pedestrian openings and help improve the overall energy efficiency of a building. ACS Industrial Doors supplies and installs high-performance thermal doors for commercial and industrial environments where insulation, security and durability are all important. They are particularly suited to external personnel entrances, warehouses, factories, plant rooms, workshops and temperature-controlled buildings.

Improved Thermal Performance

A conventional steel doorset can create an area of increased heat transfer through the building envelope. Thermally rated doors use insulated cores, improved seals and carefully designed construction to reduce this heat transfer. Lower U-values indicate improved thermal performance and reduced heat movement through the complete doorset.

Low U-Value Doors

High-performance steel door systems are available with increasingly low U-values. Thermal steel doors are available around 1.5 W/m²K depending on the doorset.The required value will depend on the building specification and individual project requirements.

Reduce Heat Loss

Improved insulation helps reduce unwanted heat loss through frequently used external personnel openings. Combined with good perimeter sealing, this can help maintain more consistent internal temperatures and reduce the demand placed on heating systems.

Weather Performance

External thermal doors can also be designed to provide resistance against air and water penetration. Suitable frames, seals and thresholds help create a more effective barrier against draughts and external weather conditions.

Fire Rated Thermal Doors

Where both fire resistance and improved thermal performance are required, selected doorsets can provide both functions within a single certified system. For example, thermal fire-door options are available subject to the required configuration and certification.

Access Control & Hardware

Thermal doors can still incorporate the everyday hardware expected from a commercial personnel entrance. This includes manual and electronic locking, panic hardware, closers, access control and other operational equipment depending on the application.
